Maggio Multicultural Academy is a school of educational excellence opening in Bávaro, Dominican Republic in September 2016. It is based on American Educational Standards with English being the primary language spoken in the school. The owner, Kristi Maggio, is a certified language teacher from the United States and is also a certified Principal and Superintendent of schools in the State of New York. The idea and desire to found the school has come about after seeing the need for quality education in the area. In the first year, the school will service grades K2, K3, K4, K5 and Grade 1. The idea is that each year the school will grow and add on a grade to continue servicing the current students.

Students will be assessed daily by their teachers, and parents will receive necessary feedback about their child throughout the school year. Parents will also receive three reports throughout the school year to help them see where their child is excelling and where improvement is needed.
Parents who need extended day care for their children will have the option to keep their children in after-school care. Here, students will be provided with other activities, homework help and a snack. The after school program goes from 2:15 pm until 6:00 pm Monday-Friday.
Maggio Multicultural Academy opened in September 2016 providing instruction completely in English for K3 through K5. Children in 1st and 2nd grade will also have one hour of Spanish language instruction daily and three hours of Sociales weekly, to provide them with the necessary skills to read and write in Spanish. This year, K5 (kindergarten) will have 45 minutes of Spanish instruction daily. All teachers will be Native English speakers or have an advanced level (near native) English proficiency. All assistants will be required to know English at an advanced beginner or intermediate level. The idea is for children to learn to speak and understand the English language at the age where it is easiest to acquire. Students will have music, art and physical education in their classes weekly. The curriculum of the school will be based on American Learning Standards while incorporating Dominican Curriculum Standards as well. Students will learn about and appreciate multiculturalism and different countries and places around the world each month. (Children attending K2 must already be potty trained)
All children must have at least one school polo shirt and one school t-shirt. Children must wear the school shirt everyday, no exceptions. Children can wear whatever pants or shoes they would like, but must always wear the school uniform shirt.

Unlike other schools where parents need to buy multiple notebooks for their children, high priced books and other materials, most learning materials are included in the price. Parents of K3 – K5 only need to purchase the following: 1 backpack, 1 notebook, 1 pack of baby wipes and 1 water bottle (thermos). Children in 1st and 2ndgrade only need to buy: 1 backpack, 1 agenda and 1 water bottle (thermos). There is a $100 USD book fee for 1st and 2nd grade, which will include all the books and notebooks for each subject.
