School structure

Maggio Multicultural Academy opened in September 2016 providing instruction completely in English for K3 through K5. Children in 1st and 2nd grade will also have one hour of Spanish language instruction daily and three hours of Sociales weekly, to provide them with the necessary skills to read and write in Spanish. This year, K5 (kindergarten) will have 45 minutes of Spanish instruction daily. All teachers will be Native English speakers or have an advanced level (near native) English proficiency. All assistants will be required to know English at an advanced beginner or intermediate level. The idea is for children to learn to speak and understand the English language at the age where it is easiest to acquire. Students will have music, art and physical education in their classes weekly. The curriculum of the school will be based on American Learning Standards while incorporating Dominican Curriculum Standards as well. Students will learn about and appreciate multiculturalism and different countries and places around the world each month. (Children attending K2 must already be potty trained)
